Martin Luther and John Calvin both had issues with the Catholic Church, particularly their practice of selling “indulgences”. Indulgences were like free passes that would reduce your time in purgatory for all the horrible sins you committed on Earth.

King Henry VIII also had a problem with the church, but that was mainly because he wanted a divorce and the Pope wasn’t onboard.
